VUANCE's MASC System to Secure Daytona Beach International Airport
03 Avril 2009 - 2:00PM
PR Newswire (US)
FRANKLIN, Wis., April 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- VUANCE Ltd.
(NASDAQ: VUNC), a leading provider of innovative Radio Frequency
Verification Solutions, including active RFID, electronic access
control, credentialing, accountability and incident response
management, today announced that it will supply and assist in the
programming of a new integrated security system based on VUANCE's
proprietary Managed Automated Security Controls (MASC) system to
protect the Daytona Beach International Airport (DBIA). VUANCE will
develop a security system specifically to accommodate the complex
requirements of today's airports where public access must be
balanced with security requirements related to threats, including
terrorism. The comprehensive security system monitors and controls
all activity and movement through VUANCE's MASC graphical
interface, creating an intelligent, easy-to-use, powerful security
communications network within the Airport. The system will provide
first responders and command and control entities at all levels
real-time, actionable intelligence they can leverage to prevent,
mitigate, and reduce the consequences of crimes and acts of
terrorism against the airport. In addition, VUANCE's MASC system
will be supporting the largest Iris scan biometric access control
project in a U.S. airport. The system includes access, video
surveillance, and intercom controls, with independent areas of
control. Each area has cameras, intercom points, and access control
points. Cameras are automatically switched based on operator
activity to provide a seamless interface. Unlike other electronic
security management systems, a group of MASC security controller
panels form a true peer-to-peer system. This system can do many
things that other systems require a host server to accomplish. In
fact, the MASC capabilities surpass those of other systems even
with host server connectivity. Unique features of the system
include: -- First responders can carry small, wireless handheld PCs
to use in viewing and controlling the MASC system in a tactical
mode -- VUANCE's MASC system operates intelligently even if the
host server fails or is disabled. Door controllers can interoperate
and execute the complex requirements of the most demanding
scenarios independent of the host server, and the system does not
go into a "dumbed down" mode. "This is the second significant
airport contract for VUANCE and this win validates VUANCE's
leadership position in providing state-of-the-art, integrated
systems to meet the unique and expanding challenges for protecting
airports," said Eyal Tuchman, Chief Executive Officer of VUANCE,
Ltd. "VUANCE continues to penetrate the emerging market for
airports and other sensitive facilities, and our fully integrated
systems are exceptionally well-suited for this important
application, due to our comprehensive suite of technologies,
including passive and active RFID, cameras, access control systems,
DVRs, closed-circuit television, PLC-based locking controls, and
intercoms into a robust software system to seamlessly manage it
all." Chuck Butler, Director of Security Programs with Gannett
Fleming, Inc., an international engineering and architectural firm,
provided the specialized industrial security expertise for the
project in a subcontractor role on the design team. Mr. Butler has
more than 25 years direct experience in the commercial and military
aviation security environments, and he selected the MASC system as
"basis of design" for the project because it provides a simple
approach to implementing complex security scenarios and was most
effectively suited to the needs of the challenging airport
environment. About VUANCE, Ltd. VUANCE, Ltd. develops and markets
