Cingular Sets Its Sites on 'Driving Down The Shore' This Summer
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The unofficial start
of summer is upon us. Memorial Day is traditionally the first
summer get-away weekend for beach-goers. Cingular Wireless, the
nation's largest wireless provider, today highlighted its
commitment to provide outstanding network performance and a
world-class wireless experience for customers using their service
when driving down to beaches in southern New Jersey and Delaware.
The project includes the addition of four new cell sites in Beach
Haven Park, Longport, Woodbine and Buckshutem. Additional areas of
coverage improvement also include Stone Harbor, Wildwood, Avalon,
South Seaside Park, North Cape May, and Burleigh. "We are
aggressively putting up new sites to give our customers in southern
New Jersey and Delaware more bars in more places, so that they have
the very best wireless network experience when they're at home, at
work or driving down to Atlantic City or Rehoboth Beach this
summer," said Dan Lafond, Cingular Wireless Vice President and
General Manager for Greater Philadelphia. Plus for those rainy days
at the shore, Cingular announced it has improved its in-building
wireless coverage at Trump Plaza, Trump Taj Mahal and Trump Marina
in Atlantic City and in many of the most popular shopping malls in
southern New Jersey and Delaware including Ocean County Mall,
Hamilton Mall in May's Landing and the Rehoboth Outlet Centers.
Cingular's network technicians drive approximately 80,000 miles
every month throughout the greater Philadelphia area, monitoring
the company's network, as well as those of competitors. That's more
than three complete trips around the earth! Cingular continues to
enhance its network daily in the Greater Philadelphia area. This
year, Cingular Wireless plans to spend more than $6 billion
nationally to add thousands of new cell sites and to fine-tune
network performance. About Cingular Wireless Cingular's network in
the Philadelphia metropolitan area and Central Pennsylvania area
covers more than 11 million people and extends across
13,000-square-miles outward from greater metropolitan Philadelphia
to include Central and Southern New Jersey, areas of Northeastern
Pennsylvania including Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Central Pennsylvania
including Harrisburg and State College as well as Delaware.
