100 ATLANTA, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth Corporation
(NYSE:BLS) announced today that IDG's Computerworld, the "Voice of
IT Management," has selected it as one of the top workplaces for
information technology (IT) professionals. This honor is part of
the publication's 12th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey.
BellSouth has placed in the top 100 on Computerworld's Best Places
to Work list for the past four years. The Best Places to Work list
is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for
technology professionals compiled by Computerworld. The lists are
compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company
offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career
development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld
conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses
factor heavily in determining the rankings. "This year's Best
Places to Work rankings represent companies across the industry
that recognize how a strong commitment to and investment in
employees is synonymous with creating a great IT work environment,"
said Don Tennant, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Once again, we
found that IT professionals are looking for rewarding and
challenging projects, access to leading-edge technologies, career
growth and development and a comfortable work/life balance. Our
Best Places companies not only offer these benefits, but do so in a
manner that goes well-above industry norms." This year's 43rd
ranking is BellSouth's highest ranking since they began
participating in the annual survey. "We have developed a work
culture that evokes creative problem solving and a drive for
excellence. With that in mind, our employee programs target
individual needs, support employees' work and life goals, and
provide rewards and recognition that keep them motivated," notes
Fran Dramis, Chief Information, e-Commerce & Security Officer
at BellSouth. "This ranking reflects our commitment to the 'total'
employee." Other companies that Computerworld ranked among the Best
Places to Work include Aflac, Ernst & Young, Ford Motor
Company, General Mills, MasterCard International, Staples, Inc.,
and UPS. The list was published in the June 27 issue and online at
