2005 a Banner Year in Oklahoma, as Nation's Largest Wireless Carrier Invests more than $60 Million and adds more than 50 new cell sites OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless has announced that it invested almost $60 million in its network in the Sooner State during 2005, adding coverage and capacity via new cell sites, purchasing portable generators and back-up batteries, and by rolling out new data features. As a result, Cingular's ALLOVER network* - the largest digital voice and data network - has grown bigger, better and more powerful in Oklahoma. Also, Cingular is integrating the network of the former AT&T Wireless, which was acquired by Cingular in late 2004. The integration means better coverage, fewer dropped calls and increased call clarity for Cingular customers in Oklahoma. * The ALLOVER network covers more than 270 million people. Coverage not available in all areas. Earlier this year, Cingular announced plans to add 43 cell sites in Oklahoma, and actually installed more than 50. The cell site expansion effort has been successfully completed, enabling the company to add new service or enhance existing service throughout the state. "Cingular's commitment to our customers in Oklahoma is to meet - and exceed -- their needs by continually upgrading and expanding our network and by offering innovative products, services, customer-friendly initiatives and community support second to none," said Rudy Hermond, vice president and general manager of Cingular Wireless. "I am pleased with the progress we've made this year and look forward to 'Raising the Bar' for our customers even more in 2006." With more than 20 company-owned stores and kiosks in Oklahoma, Cingular also has extensive relationships with authorized agents and national retailers, giving customers more than 230 additional locations to buy service. Currently, Cingular employs more than 3,000 people in Oklahoma. About Cingular Wireless Cingular Wireless is the largest wireless carrier in the United States, serving 52.3 million customers.
