Eight New Cingular Cell Sites Enhance Service as Part of $60 Million Build Plan ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The nation's largest wireless carrier continues to grow its network in upstate New York. Cingular Wireless today announced the addition of eight new cell sites in the Rochester area, providing enhanced cellular coverage for Monroe, Ontario and Orleans Counties. "Enhancing our wireless network is a constant priority for us," said Robert Holliday, Cingular Wireless Vice President and General Manager, upstate New York. "We continue to invest in upstate New York to ensure our customers have the best experience possible." Four of the eight sites added to the Rochester area this year are in Monroe County. In the city of Rochester, back-to-school shoppers at the Irondequoit Mall will enjoy increased coverage from a new cell site that also benefits nearby Rochester General Hospital. In addition, Cingular has added new service to Fairport along Routes 31, 52 and 50. New cell sites now serve Cingular customers in Penfield along Routes 250, 441, 34 and 18 as well as in Greece on NYS Route 390N and the areas surrounding Barnard Park, Nemets Field and Columbus Park. In Orleans County, Cingular has added its second cell site to the town of Albion, servicing Main Street, and Routes 31, 31A and 98. And, in Ontario County two new cell sites provide increased coverage in the Village of Victor and just north of the Thruway along I-90, I-490 and Routes 96 and 9. An additional cell site in Italy located in Yates County also benefits Cingular customers in parts of Ontario County near Routes 21, 37, 53 and 245. Last year Cingular invested more than $122 million to build and integrate more than 275 cell sites in the upstate region. The company plans to spend an additional $60 million in 2006 to further enhance its network. Nationally, Cingular will invest more than $6 billion expanding its network this year. When combined with the company's 2005 network spending, the two-year total approaches $13 billion nation wide.
