Cingular Names New Chief Financial Officer ATLANTA, May 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cingular Wireless today announced that Peter (Pete) Ritcher has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of the company. Ritcher replaces Rick Lindner, who was named CFO for SBC Communications last week. Ritcher assumes his new role on May 10. Ritcher comes to Cingular from SBC, where he most recently served as Vice President of Corporate Finance. In this role, Ritcher was responsible for all financial planning and wireline financial operations. "Pete has exhibited strong financial leadership throughout his tenure with SBC and previous companies," said Stan Sigman, President and CEO of Cingular Wireless. "He is experienced in merger integration and will be an outstanding addition to Cingular's leadership team. We look forward to his sound guidance as we continue to focus on growing the business." Ritcher joined SBC in 1987 as Tax Compliance Manager, progressing over the years through various positions in the tax department before becoming Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Cellular One in Chicago, a subsidiary of SBC, in 1997. He has since held a variety of financial leadership positions for SBC National and SBC Network Services. Prior to joining SBC, Ritcher worked for A.G. Edwards & Sons and Arthur Young & Co. in St. Louis, Mo. A Missouri native, Ritcher earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He and his wife, Kay, have three children.
