Cingular Wireless Expands Retail Presence in Fairfield County New Sales and Coverage Expansion Part of Company's Commitment to Enhance Consumers' Wireless Experience ROCKY HILL, Conn., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- To meet increased demand for wireless service in this booming area of Connecticut, Cingular Wireless today announced the addition of a new store location at 584 Main Avenue in Norwalk, on the Route 7 Connector, next to Town Fair Tire. This is the second company- owned location to open in Fairfield County in as many months; Cingular also recently opened a location in Greenwich, at 12 West Putnam Avenue. The new stores are a key part of Cingular's continued expansion in southern Connecticut. "Consumers have become more and more dependent on wireless service, and our retail expansion will help us meet that growing demand," said Mark Collins, vice president and general manager for Cingular in New England. "By expanding our retail presence, we make it easier and more convenient for consumers to learn about Cingular's cutting-edge wireless capabilities." As part of Cingular's commitment to a world-class customer experience, the company is undertaking several key initiatives. Cingular invested nearly $75 million in Connecticut over the last two years implementing an advanced voice and data network throughout New England. In recent months Cingular has added more than seven new cell sites in Fairfield County and expects to add a total of 15 sites in Connecticut before the end of the summer as part of the company's effort to enhance network performance and deliver advanced wireless applications like multi-media picture messaging, wireless business e-mail services and interactive gaming. In addition to retail and network expansion in Connecticut, Cingular is in the process of rolling out a number of new initiatives to enhance the overall customer experience. In recent months, the company has introduced simplified coverage maps and rate plans as well as self service enhancements that let customers check account information and add services right from their handsets by dialing *BAL for their balance, *MIN to check minutes, *PAY to pay their bill and *NOW to order features like text messaging packages. "Cingular made tremendous strides in last year with our network conversion, and delivering a host of innovations to customers through new data services, compelling rate plans and the widest array of handsets," Collins said. "In 2004 we are focused on moving Cingular to the next level, ensuring that all our customers have the best wireless experience possible. And today, Norwalk consumers have a new and convenient way to see the wide array of wireless devices that Cingular has to offer." Grand-opening festivities at the Norwalk store take place June 5, and are open to the public. The celebration will include free refreshments, prizes, raffles and Cingular giveaways as well as an appearance by WEBE 108 PM driver Peter Bush.
