Cingular Wireless Names Joe Larussa Vice President and General Manager of Alabama/NW Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana Larussa one of 27 VP/GMs named as part of new leadership team after merger with AT&T Wireless BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless has named Joe Larussa Vice President and General Manager of the Alabama/NW Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana Market, which is part of the company's new Southeast Region. The newly combined company is now the country's biggest wireless provider with more than 46 million customers and has the largest digital voice and data network in the nation. Larussa, who held the same title before the merger, will be based in Birmingham. In his role as Vice President and General Manager, Larussa will be responsible for Cingular's operations in Alabama/NW Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. He will oversee all business and financial matters for the designated markets in his region, which now include both the AT&T Wireless and Cingular operations. "Joe Larussa has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the wireless industry, and I can think of no better person to manage this territory and lead its success in the future," said Steve Sitton, Southeast Region President of Cingular Wireless. Prior to his current position, Larussa served as Vice President and General Manager - Louisiana; Regional Vice President of BellSouth's American Cellular Division; and General Manager - Central Tennessee. He began his career with BellSouth Mobility in 1986, and worked in a variety of sales and management positions in Louisiana, Georgia and Tennessee. Larussa attended Louisiana State University, where his major was in business administration.
