Cingular Wireless Names Craig Edgar Vice President and General Manager of Cingular Wireless in Upstate New York Edgar one of 27 VP/GMs named as part of new leadership team after merger with AT&T Wireless GREENBELT, Md., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless has named Craig Edgar Vice President and General Manager of Cingular Wireless -- New York State, which includes Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, Albany, Poughkeepsie/Kingston and Binghamton. The New York State Market is a part of the company's new Northeast Region, announced last week, following the completion of Cingular's merger with AT&T Wireless. The newly combined company is now the country's biggest wireless provider with more than 46 million customers and has the largest digital voice and data network in the nation. Edgar, formerly Vice President of Sales for AT&T Wireless in Connecticut and Upstate New York, will be based in Cingular's regional headquarters in Buffalo. In his new role, Edgar will oversee all business and financial matters for the designated markets in his region, including both the AT&T Wireless and Cingular operations. "Craig has demonstrated exceptional leadership to the wireless industry, and I can think of no better person to manage this territory and lead its success in the future," said Steve Hodges, Northeast Region President of Cingular Wireless. Over the last 12 years, Edgar has held various leadership positions at AT&T Wireless, including director of the national wholesale channel, and responsibility for distribution and strategic planning. Prior to joining AT&T Wireless, he held positions at Sterling Cellular and US Cellular. Edgar earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/industrial psychology from Fredonia State University and has a graduate certificate from the Wharton School.
