Cingular Wireless Names Mark Collins Vice President and General Manager of Cingular Wireless New England Collins one of 27 VP/GMs named as part of new leadership team after merger with AT&T Wireless WESTWOOD, Mass., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cingular Wireless has named Mark Collins as Vice President and General Manager of Cingular Wireless New England, which is made up of Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Connecticut and is a part of the company's new Northeast Region announced last week following the completion of Cingular's merger with AT&T Wireless. The newly combined company is now the country's biggest wireless provider with more than 46 million customers and has the largest digital voice and data network in the nation. Collins, who held the same title before the merger, will be based in Westwood, MA. In his new role, he will oversee overall business and financial matters for the combined markets in his region which now include both the AT&T Wireless and Cingular operations. "Mark has demonstrated exceptional leadership in the wireless industry, and I can think of no better person to manage this territory and lead its success in the future," said Steve Hodges, northeast region president of Cingular Wireless. Collins has an extensive telecommunications and wireless background. He began his telecommunications career with BellSouth in 1986 working in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in both wireless and wireline markets. He earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Appalachian State University and holds a masters degree in business administration from Duke University.
