Pittsburgh Quarterback Tyler Palko Named a Finalist for the
Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports All-America Player of the Week
ATLANTA, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Pittsburgh junior quarterback
Tyler Palko has been selected as a Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports
All-America Player of the Week finalist for the first time this
season. Palko, who is the first Big East player to be nominated for
the national award this year, threw for 334 yards and five
touchdowns in the Panthers' 41-38 win at No. 24 Notre Dame
yesterday. Palko became the first quarterback ever to throw five
touchdown passes against the Irish. Palko is one of four candidates
for the All-America Player of the Week, who are selected by a panel
of ABC Sports and ESPN college football analysts, led by John
Saunders. The other finalists are: North Texas running back Jamario
Thomas, who turned in his fifth consecutive 200-yard rushing
performance in Eagles' 51-29 win over Idaho; Oklahoma quarterback
Jason White, who completed 29 of 35 passes for 393 yards and three
touchdowns as the Sooners' beat Nebraska 30-3; and Auburn running
back Carnell Williams, who totaled 198 all-purpose yards and
accounted for two touchdowns in the Tigers' 24-6 win over No. 8
Georgia. Who will be this week's winner is still undecided and the
final decision now rests in the hands of college football fans
nationwide. For the first time in college football history, fans
can now make the call on who they think deserves to be the
All-America Player of the Week with the power and ease of wireless

David Greene, Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson (twice), Auburn
quarterback Jason Campbell, Michigan running back Michael Hart and
Oklahoma quarterback Jason White. Fans who vote on their wireless
phones only need to register one time. Then, each week, the four
candidates for Player of the Week are automatically sent to their
