Oklahoma Quarterback Jason White Nominated for His Second Straight
Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports All-America Player of The Week Award
ATLANTA, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Oklahoma senior quarterback and
Hesiman Trophy front-runner Jason White has been nominated for his
second consecutive Cingular Wireless/ABC Sports All-America Player
of the Week award. White, last year's Heisman winner, was selected
after completing 29 of 35 passes for 393 yards and three touchdowns
in the Sooners' 30-3 win over Nebraska yesterday. College football
fans chose him for the honor last week after his five-touchdown
performance against Texas A&M. White's teammate, running back
Adrian Peterson, has won the award twice this season. White is one
of four candidates for the All-America Player of the Week, who are
selected by a panel of ABC Sports and ESPN college football
analysts, led by John Saunders. The other finalists are: Pittsburgh
quarterback Tyler Palko, who became the first quarterback ever to
throw for five touchdowns against Notre Dame in the Panther's 41-38
win over the Irish; North Texas running back Jamario Thomas, who
turned in his fifth consecutive 200-yard rushing performance in
Eagles' 51-29 win over Idaho; and Auburn running back Carnell
Williams, who totaled 198 all-purpose yards and accounted for two
touchdowns in the Tigers' 24-6 win over No. 8 Georgia. Who will be
this week's winner is still undecided and the final decision now
rests in the hands of college football fans nationwide. For the
first time in college football history, fans can now make the call
on who they think deserves to be the All-America Player of the Week
with the power and ease of wireless text-messaging. Cingular is
making the voting open to other wireless carriers* allowing even
more fans to participate. Fans can also vote online at
