--New York-based activist investor Greenlight Capital Inc. has built a stake in BT Group PLC and shown interest in splitting networks-infrastructure arm Openreach from the group, the Times of London reports.

--Greenlight's stake in the telecommunications provider is "medium-sized" but likely below the 3% threshold at which regulatory filings are required, according to the Times of London.

--BT shares at 0920 GMT traded 0.9% higher at 238 pence.
