WSJ.com Launches "Japan Real Time" Blog
"Japan Real Time" Features Insight and Analysis From Wall Street
Journal and Dow Jones Newswires Team in Tokyo
TOKYO, June 7, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Wall Street Journal
Online at WSJ.com today launched the new Japan Real Time blog
(http://blogs.wsj.com/japanrealtime/), providing readers with a
unique take on the news and culture of the world's second-largest
economy and demonstrating The Wall Street Journal's heightened
coverage of Japan. Japan Real Time features regularly updated
insight and analysis from Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones
reporters and editors in the region, including updates on business,
economics, finance and lifestyle in Tokyo and around the
country.
"Japan Real Time will tell domestic and global readers alike how
Japan impacts -- and is impacted by -- a rapidly changing world,"
said Almar Latour, editor-in-chief, Asia, The Wall Street Journal.
"Our growing group of reporters and editors in Japan will offer
unrivaled analysis on countless fronts delivered continuously
throughout the working day."
"While other foreign media organizations have reduced -- or
eliminated -- their coverage of Japan, The Wall Street Journal is
expanding," added Jacob Schlesinger, The Wall Street Journal's
Japan editor-in-chief. "We are becoming the defining
English-language news source on a country that, for all its
troubles, remains a vital player in world economics and finance --
and remains intensely dynamic and creative in ways that global
readers need to follow and understand."
Japan Real Time is the latest Wall Street Journal initiative to
be introduced in Japan, following the launch last December of the
Japanese-language business and financial news Web site,
japan.WSJ.com (http://jp.wsj.com); a joint venture between Dow
Jones & Company and SBI Holdings Inc., of Japan. The site
features Japanese translations of content from all print and online
editions of The Wall Street Journal and other Dow Jones
publications, in addition to original content created for the site.
The Japan Real Time posts will also be translated for the
Japanese-language site.
Japan Real Time joins WSJ.com's suite of popular real time
analysis blogs, including China Real Time Report, offering quick
and sharp analysis of developments across Greater China; India Real
Time, a destination for readers in India and around the world
wanting a smart perspective on the country's latest developments;
and Real Time Brussels, providing insight and analysis from
Europe's political and legislative centre.
