Holly Corp. (HOC) said Wednesday preparations are underway to
restart process units at its oil refinery in Tulsa, Okla., after
they were idled earlier in the day when the plant's boilers shut
down due to the extremely cold weather, the company said.
The boiler shutdown resulted in a loss of steam, which affected
the operating units and resulted in the temporary loss of
production, the company said in a statement.
Emissions associated with the unit outages were routed to the
refinery's safety flare system. There were no injuries because of
the event and no damage to the process units; they were all safely
idled, the statement said.
"Operations will resume when steam-producing boilers are
returned to service. A full investigation will be completed to
determine the cause of the incident," the statement added.
The Holly Refining & Marketing Tulsa refinery processes
125,000 barrels of crude oil per day and produces products such as
gasoline, lubricants, diesel, wax and coke.
