PR Newswire (US)
DAYTON, Ohio, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Standard Register's
(NYSE:SR) ExpeData(R) Digital Solutions group announces the release
of a digital signature capability for BlackBerry(R). This
capability is offered to BlackBerry Independent Software Vendors
(ISV) as a toolkit that can easily be integrated into their
BlackBerry-based applications, enabling mobile workers to capture
high quality digital signatures and route them wirelessly to back-
end systems using the BlackBerry solution from Research In Motion
(RIM) (NASDAQ:RIMM). "ExpeData's digital signature capability for
BlackBerry is an easy-to-use, cost-effective signature capture
solution that fits in your pocket," said Doug Patterson, vice
president and general manager, ExpeData Digital Solutions. The
ExpeData solution enables mobile workers to obtain a signature on
paper, using a special ballpoint pen. The signature is also
captured electronically by the pen and transmitted via Bluetooth(R)
to the BlackBerry handset. Images of the signature are viewable on
the BlackBerry handset's screen and a record of the date and time
associated with the signature is available to third-party
BlackBerry application providers. The ExpeData toolkit -- comprised
of a Logitech(R) digital pen and pocket-sized digital paper pad --
allows for convenient and cost-effective signature capture. The
capability utilizes Anoto functionality. Anoto is the inventor of
digital pen and paper technology. A number of ISVs, including
mBiztech Corp, a leader in the field of mobile data access
applications and services, have integrated signature capture into
their product offerings. "ExpeData's Digital Signature capability
provides an added dimension to our forms data capture application
mBizForms, which allows our clients to obtain customer consent and
effectively close transactions with proof of service," says Cathal
Copas, mBiztech Corp's chief technology officer. "Thousands of
organizations around the world are embracing the BlackBerry
platform to wirelessly extend back-end systems such as CRM,
inventory management and patient records," says Mark Guibert, vice
president corporate marketing at Research In Motion. "Integrating
digital signature capture into mobile applications for BlackBerry
can help to further streamline workflow and increase productivity
for mobile professionals." The newly released digital signature
solution will be showcased at the Association of Field Service
Managers (AFSM) International 2006 World Conference in Orlando,
Sept. 17-20. About Standard Register Standard Register (NYSE:SR) is
