Digital 5 Joins TDK at SUPERCOMM 2004 to Demonstrate a Network
Attached Storage Media Server Product Illustrating the Advantages
of a Network Attached Storage Media Server Product to the Telecomm
Industry CHICAGO, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- SUPERCOMM 2004 - Digital
5(TM), Inc. - a leading provider of software to enable both
wireless and wired sharing of content among networked consumer
electronics (CE) devices, will demonstrate the first Networked
Attached Storage (NAS) Media Server product to address the telecomm
industry at the TDK Corporation (NYSE:TDK) booth during SUPERCOMM
2004. The NAS Media Server will be connected within the FTTx
Broadband Access environment of the booth. This first-hand look at
Digital 5's NAS Media Server product will be at the TDK booth
located at L18 and 27906 from June 22-24, 2004. The NAS Media
Server product provides an economical and efficient way to store
and retrieve vast amounts of data, media files and content. Like
traditional file servers, the NAS Media Server allows multiple
embedded devices to securely store and retrieve content. The core
technology, which allows the devices to locate and connect to the
NAS Media Server, is enabled on an embedded operating system
feature on the device side, designed for environments where a
dedicated server or traditional PC, monitor, mouse or keyboard are
not available or not readily accessible. The devices may have their
own front panel display or they may be connected to a DVD player or
TV, which can offer a richer user interface experience. The
advantages a NAS system brings to the Telecommunications industry
are myriad. The systems strive for easy administration and include
features such as secure quantification, web-based content
management, seamless PC connectivity, and standards compliance for
interoperability. The Digital 5 software embedded in the NAS device
is currently deployed to power connected Consumer Electronic DVD
products from major OEMs such as Gateway, Apex, Oritron and
Go-Video, as well as Digital Media Adapters from Netgear. Digital 5
technology incorporates advanced Digital Rights Management (DRM),
Quality of Streaming (QoS) and a robust Security framework as well
as UPnP compatibility into their software offering. Additionally,
Digital 5 is utilizing its technology to deliver premium media
content throughout the home from leading services such as AOL and
Real Rhapsody. The Digital 5 networked products allow the consumer
to stream digital music, movies, and pictures, from either their
personal libraries or premium service providers over the home
network and the Internet. "We look forward to having Digital 5
demonstrate their range of product capabilities with us at
SUPERCOMM 2004," said Bill Black-Hogins, Director of Business
Development, Broadband Communication Products for TDK Corporation.
"Digital 5's products are good examples of the vast range of
possibilities that, in fact, exist for FTTx Broadband Service users
beyond the Gateway or Access Point, etc." "Digital 5 is committed
to advancing digital media server products," said Jodie Hughes, CEO
of Digital 5, Inc. "By joining TDK at SUPERCOMM we are able to
demonstrate a complete NAS Media Server product offering to the
telecommunications industry that will provide the benefits of a
robust and cost-effective solution for storage and retrieval of
data." Digital 5's technical team will also be available to discuss
Digital 5 technology, and the benefits of NAS as an alternative to
traditional storage methods. To schedule a briefing or personalized
