TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2014 /CNW/ - Verde Potash (TSX: "NPK") ("Verde" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the Company's participation in Brazil's largest international coffee trade fair, part of the International Coffee Week being held in Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais State, from September 15th-18th, 2014. The fair attracts a variety of experts in the coffee sector to whom Verde will showcase ThermoPotash ("TK"), a premium fertilizer, as well as host meetings with large corporate coffee producers. Furthermore, as part of the fair's technical segment, Eduardo Spolidorio, PhD, will present the agronomic merits of TK versus other potash sources as they apply to coffee production focusing on TK's capability of increasing coffee production, profitability and sustainability. Mr. Spolidorio's presentation will take place on September 18th between 4:00pm and 6:00pm.

Mr. Spolidorio, commented, "This is a unique opportunity for Verde to increase awareness of its innovative fertilizer. Coffee growers benefit by improving the quality of coffee up to specialty standards, correcting soil acidity without releasing carbon dioxide, and reducing the dosage of potash and phosphate used by farmers."

The International Coffee Week is a convention that brings together national and international experts in the coffee sector. The fair attracts a variety of coffee professionals, such as growers, roasters, classifiers, exporters, buyers, suppliers, employers, baristas, coffee shop owners and lovers from all over the world (http://semanainternacionaldocafe.com.br/en/).

Coffee consumes more than 30% of the potash used in Minas Gerais and will be one of Verde's key markets for TK. Tests undertaken by the Agricultural Research Company of Minas Gerais (EPAMIG) (results of which were published in a press release on March 11, 2014), demonstrated that TK is approximately three times more efficient than potassium chloride (KCl) when applied to coffee farms.

President & CEO, Cristiano Veloso, commented, "Minas Gerais State, the largest coffee producing state of Brazil and where Verde's deposit is located, accounts for about 20% of all coffee grown in the world. The State is thus well placed to produce and consume an innovative fertilizer capable of revolutionizing the coffee industry."

About Verde Potash

Verde Potash, a Brazilian fertilizer development company, is focused on advancing the Cerrado Verde project located in the heart of Brazil's largest agriculture market. Cerrado Verde is the source of a potash-rich deposit from which the Company intends to produce both ThermoPotash and potassium chloride (KCl). ThermoPotash is a controlled-release, non-chloride, multi-nutrient fertilizer that is ideally suited for Brazilian soils.

About the Cerrado Verde Potash Project

Cerrado Verde is a unique project: 1) its high grade potash rock outcrops and is amenable to strip mining, allowing fast construction of a scalable operation; 2) it is located in the midst of the world's third largest and fastest growing fertilizer market; 3) it connects to Brazil's largest fertilizer distribution districts via existing and high quality infrastructure; 4) it has the potential to supply both ThermoPotash and KCl to Brazil's local agriculture market from its large potash-rich deposit.
