Northern Tiger Resources Inc. ("Northern Tiger" or the "Company")
(TSX VENTURE:NTR) announces assay results for all nine holes (2,649
metres) drilled in 2011 at the Sonora Gulch Project in the central
Yukon. The 2011 drill program focused on the Gold Vein Zone - a 1.4
kilometre long by 500 metre wide geochemical anomaly averaging 161
ppb gold-in-soils. Thick intercepts of gold bearing sulphide
mineralization were intercepted in three drill holes and the
mineralization remains open. Key results include:
-- SG-11-57 - 0.42 g/t gold and 3.8 g/t silver over 94.0 metres
-- SG-11-58 - 0.45 g/t gold and 3.0 g/t silver over 234.0 metres
-- SG-11-59 - 0.44 g/t gold and 2.6 g/t silver over 110.0 metres
"This was Northern Tiger's first significant drill test of the
Gold Vein Zone and we intersected broad zones of mineralization in
holes 57, 58 and 59," says Greg Hayes, President of Northern Tiger.
"Thick sequences of disseminated mineralization from surface
suggests that Sonora Gulch has bulk tonnage potential in addition
to the high-grade vein and skarn type mineralization we encountered
in previous drill programs."
Gold mineralization in Holes SG-11-57 and SG-11-58 is hosted by
quartz-feldspar porphyry, and in in Hole SG-11-59 by
metasedimentary rocks cut by quartz-feldspar porphyry dykes. The
rock units exhibit argillic alteration and are strongly fractured
to brecciated, contain 5% fine grained disseminated pyrite, and are
cut by a stockwork of narrow quartz-carbonate-pyrite veinlets. The
quartz-feldspar porphyry also contains narrow arsenic-lead-antimony
sulphide veins. Most holes in the 2011 drill program were drilled
at azimuths of 95 degrees to 115 degrees to test whether more
subtle north-south structures provided important mineralization
controls in addition to the much stronger northwest-trending
structures previously recognized and generally targeted in prior
drill programs. The thick zones of mineralization in Holes
SG-11-57, 58 and 59 occur at the intersection of a north-trending
magnetic low with the northwest-trending contact of the Dawson
Range Batholith. The orientation of the mineralization cannot be
determined at this time due its disseminated/stockwork nature at
the intersection of two structures.
Significant intercepts include:
