MONTREAL, Dec. 23, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Sofame
Technologies Inc. (TSXV: SDW) (OTC: SFMGF) is pleased to announce
that HTG 99.9, LLC of New Town, North Dakota, has entered into an
agreement with Vortex Energy Services of Edmonton, Alberta, to put two Vortex mobile
frac water heating trailers to work in the Bakken area.
Vortex trailers are built around Sofame Percofrac™ direct contact
water heating units. The term of the agreement is
approximately three years. The initial 2 systems have the
capacity to heat 57,000 barrels of water per day which equates to
2,394,000 gallons. The total dollar value of the
contract is confidential, as are the names of the end-users, who
are major petroleum companies.
Vortex has been field testing a Sofame Percofrac™ 12 unit for
over a year, which has a 12 million British thermal unit per hour
heating capacity. Two more 12 MMBTUH systems with Sofame
PercofracTM 12 heaters inside are being assembled by
Vortex to withstand the poor road conditions and frigid northern
temperatures. Vortex completed and field tested a larger 36
MMBTU/HR trailer in November 2014. All Vortex mobile
systems are designed and built to CSA standards, and are certified
under the Alberta Gas Code Regulations, which have adopted
CSA-B149.3-2010 "Field Approval of Fuel-related Components and
Appliances".
The systems heat 500 to 1,200 US gallons per minute of pond
water to about 100ºF, are fired on propane, and have demonstrated
over 99% thermal operating efficiency. The pond water is
injected at high pressure into the shale formations deep
underground. Efficiency is an important cost consideration in
the oil and gas fields, where tons of fuel must be trucked at great
expense to remote areas over rough terrain.
Allan Roberts, CEO of Vortex
Energy stated, "The Vortex mobile frac heaters built around the
Sofame PercofracTM are the most efficient, and most
compact on the market. With downward pressure on oil and gas
prices, the Percofrac™'s fuel efficiency gives Vortex an extra
advantage in the market place."
John Gocek, CEO of Sofame added,
"Working with both teams at Vortex and HTG to develop a line of
mobile frac water heaters in 12, 24 and 36 MMBTUH capacities, has
been a learning experience for Sofame. Mobile water heaters
and fracking are new markets for Sofame, which offer more
standardized products, better profit margins, repeat business, and
recurring revenue opportunities through leasing
arrangements. We believe this new direction will change
the fortunes of Sofame in 2015 and beyond, as new orders from HTG
are expected to increase to several Sofame heaters per month."
