MINNEAPOLIS, June 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BioDrain Medical,
Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BIOR), producer of the FDA cleared
Streamway® System for automated surgical fluid disposal, announced
today that the company has hired William
Spence as Director of Sales.
As the Company begins its commercial outreach, Mr. Spence will
be in charge of marketing BioDrain Medical's innovative patented
Streamway System to hospitals, major medical centers and ambulatory
surgical centers throughout the U.S. The Streamway System has
received strong positive endorsements from facilities where it has
been installed and tested during the Company's product launch
phase. Medical personnel have praised its easy, effective
and economical means for safely and automatically disposing of
potentially infectious fluids in operating rooms. Hazardous
waste disposal costs have been lowered, supply costs have been
reduced, and the safety of staff and patients has been
improved.
Mr. Spence has over eight years' experience in business
development in the medical industry, focused on the sales and
marketing of capital equipment and consumable supplies. Mr.
Spence started his own medical distribution company that assisted
manufacturers in expanding their current product lines and bringing
new technologies to the market. In this role, he expanded his
company's reach to 14 states and negotiated its acquisition by a
larger company.
Kevin Davidson, CEO of BioDrain,
said, "We are very pleased to have Bill
Spence join the BioDrain team. Bill has an intimate
understanding of the medical industry and feels the excitement of
introducing our Streamway System to medical facilities that are
eager to experience its safety and cost-reducing benefits. He
will provide important leadership for our product launch to
multiple types of facilities in a complex, multi-state market."
About BioDrain Medical, Inc.
BioDrain Medical, Inc. has a fully automated, patented, FDA
cleared, surgical fluid management system that virtually eliminates
operating room workers' exposure to blood, irrigation fluid and the
related germs, viruses and diseases that are potentially found in
the surgical environment. Today's manual surgical fluid
handling methods of hand-carrying filled surgical fluid canisters
and emptying these canisters is an exposure risk and an antiquated
approach to the handling of surgical fluid waste. BioDrain's
Streamway system fully automates the collection, measurement and
disposal of surgical fluids resulting in: 1) reducing overhead
costs to hospitals and surgical centers, 2) improving the
Occupational State and Health Association (OSHA) and other
regulatory compliance, and 3) improving the efficiency of the
operating room (and thereby making surgeries more profitable).
BioDrain's Streamway System is eco-friendly as it contributes to
cleaning up the environment. Currently, approximately 50 million
bloody, potentially disease infected, canisters go to landfills
annually in the United States.
These tainted canisters can remain in landfills for years to come.
With the installation of BioDrain's Streamway system, the
number of canisters can be significantly reduced. BioDrain
Medical, Inc. makes the operating room and our environment safer,
cleaner, and better. BioDrain products are currently being
represented by independent professional sales representatives that
cater to the needs of hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers
across the country.
