Hyundai Motor Group and the Georgia Institute of Technology have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on sustainable mobility research.

The carmaker and Georgia Tech will work together on research and development of new sustainability technologies such as batteries, they said Tuesday.

The collaboration comes as Hyundai is set to invest billions in new manufacturing facilities in Georgia, including a $5 billion battery plant.

The two will also create technical training and leadership programs for Hyundai employees and Hyundai will recruit at Georgia Tech.
