Compass Group PLC (CPG.LN) said Thursday that it has appointed Karen Witts to the board as chief financial officer.

The food-service company said that Ms. Witts will begin her appointment on a date to be agreed and that she will also join Compass Group's corporate responsibility committee.

Ms. Witts joins Compass from Kingfisher PLC (KGF.LN) where she served as group CFO and a member of the board of directors since 2012, Compass Group said.

Compass Group said Ms. Witts replaces Johnny Thomson, who stands down from his role as group finance director at the end of December this year, Compass Group said.

Palmer Brown, chief corporate investment and risk officer for Compass Group's North America business will serve as interim chief financial officer from Dec. 31, the company said.
