BERLIN--German auto industry association VDA expects stable
business in 2013 and forecasts the global market reaching close to
70 million cars in the coming year.
For Germany, the association expects 3 million new car
registrations in 2013.
Domestic car production is expected to increase by 1% to 5.4
million units next year, VDA said, adding car exports in the coming
year are likely to be slightly higher than 2012, at 4.15
million.
"German automobile industry faced highs and lows in 2012," VDA
president Matthias Wissman said. While weakness in European markets
persisted, developments in markets outside Europe were positive, he
added.
