Shares in Volkswagen AG and Porsche Automobil SE, a controlling shareholder in Volkswagen, tumbled by more than 8% in early trade Wednesday, dragging shares of other car makers lower on fears that more companies could be affected by the emissions scandal after Volkswagen admitted late Tuesday it understated the level of carbon-dioxide in additional cars, including gasoline-powered cars.

"Volkswagen Drags Other Auto Shares Lower On Fears Scandal Could Widen," at 1002 GMT, misstated Porsche's link to Volkswagen in the first paragraph. It is a controlling shareholder.
