MCLEAN, Va., July 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- QinetiQ North
America announced today the award of an Expert Scientific and
Analytical Support (ESAS) contract from the U.S. Air Force's
Technical Applications Center (AFTAC). With options, this
six-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract
has a total value of $36.5
million. AFTAC is based at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida.
Under this contract, QinetiQ North America will work with
AFTAC's Atmosphere and Space Directorate in their role supporting
AFTAC's worldwide mission to operate and maintain the U.S. Atomic
Energy Detection System. The Atomic Energy Detection System
monitors foreign compliance with the treaties limiting nuclear
testing.
QinetiQ North America's role is to work closely with AFTAC's
scientists and engineers to support mission readiness with (1)
advanced concepts to improve current detection and analysis
methods, techniques, tools and systems and (2) research and
development of systems and detection technologies to meet future
operational mission requirements for monitoring treaties and other
directed technology applications. The ESAS contract is Firm
Fixed Price with Cost Plus Fixed Fee and Time and Material line
items.
In the initial task orders, QinetiQ North America will provide
scientific, engineering and analytical services and support the
migration of legacy operational software into a Services Oriented
Architecture with improved mission performance. Future
efforts will support the development of advanced sensor
exploitation and evaluation methodologies.
