Premier African American Business Publication Recognizes
DaimlerChrysler as a Top Company for Diversity - Black Enterprise
Magazine names DaimlerChrysler as one of the 30 best companies for
diversity AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
DaimlerChrysler has been named a top company for diversity by Black
Enterprise Magazine. Black Enterprise Magazine recognized
DaimlerChrysler as one of its 30 Best Companies for Diversity,
during a luncheon on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the W New York Hotel
in New York, NY. "Diversity is a critical source of strength for
our company," said Monica Emerson, Executive Director - Chrysler
Group Corporate Diversity Office. "Our company benefits from having
a team of talented people from different cultures and points of
view. At Chrysler Group, diversity is crucial to our success in the
global marketplace." To be included in the Black Enterprise 30 Best
Companies for Diversity list, a business had to demonstrate
significant representation of African Americans and other
minorities in four key areas: corporate procurement, corporate
boards, senior management, and the total workforce. In selecting
the 30 companies, Black Enterprise's editors evaluated diversity
programs, consulted with diversity experts and corporate diversity
officers, and conducted an extensive survey of 1,000 of America's
largest publicly traded companies and 50 leading global companies
with significant U.S. operations. As one of the largest automakers
in the world, DaimlerChrysler is committed to fostering diversity
practices. The Company has established six employee resource groups
that focus on helping employees develop their potential, while
inspiring and nurturing careers and professional development.
DaimlerChrysler's diversity initiatives have been recognized by
several leading organizations, including being named one of Working
Mother magazine's "100 best Companies" eight times. The Company has
also been honored as "Corporation of the Year" by the National
Minority Supplier Development Council three times and by the
Michigan Minority Business Development Council four times. LATINA
Style Magazine awarded the Chrysler Group the 2004 LATINA Style 50
and the Hispanic Publishing Group named the company among Hispanic
Magazine's Corporate 100 List for 2005. Since 1983, DaimlerChrysler
has been a leader in supporting minority business enterprises. Last
year, DaimlerChrysler sourced about 11 percent -- or $3 billion --
of its total supplier spend from minority-owned suppliers. For the
