Mountain Outside North American International Auto Show DETROIT,
Jan. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The most capable off-road vehicle
in the world -- the all-new 2007 Jeep(R) Wrangler -- made its debut
at the North American International Auto Show here today. Seconds
later, the legendary American icon left its own party. After
breaking out of a cage and appearing onstage, the all-new 2007 Jeep
Wrangler drove offstage, through the auto show display area, into
the Cobo Center lobby and smashed through the front window. The
all-new Wrangler then climbed down a flight of Cobo Center stairs,
proceeded up Washington Avenue and scaled the outdoor stairs at
Detroit's Pontchartrain Hotel, before confidently climbing Jeep
Mountain. "Jeep is the 'go anywhere, do anything' brand, and the
all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler demonstrated that right out of the gate
today," said Jeff Bell, Vice President -- Jeep, Chrysler Group.
"Simply put, it is the best Jeep Wrangler ever. No vehicle in the
world offers more off-road capability. Our all-new Jeep Wrangler
offers more on-road refinement, space, comfort, open-air options,
power, torque, safety and convenience." Today's all-new 2007 Jeep
Wrangler reveal marks the second time a Jeep vehicle introduction
at the North American International Auto Show included outdoor
activity. Fourteen years ago, at the 1992 show, a 1993 Jeep Grand
Cherokee drove through Cobo Center's front window, marking its
debut. Jeep is the only brand that has utilized the outdoors as
part of a North American International Auto Show vehicle
introduction. All-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler: More Jeep! A direct
descendent of the original Jeep -- the 1941 Willys MB -- the
all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler evolves from more than 65 years of
legendary 4x4 leadership. Continuing Wrangler's legacy as the icon
of the Jeep brand and boasting distinguished "form equals function"
design, it is clearly recognizable as the original Jeep. Five
inches wider overall, the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler takes on a
brawnier appearance. While staying true to the original formula,
Jeep Wrangler's appearance is modern and precise, with clean, crisp
lines and improved fit and finish. Wrangler-signature "must-have"
features are refined, including classic round headlamps, a
signature seven-slot grille, trapezoid wheel flares, exposed forged
hinges, a fold-down windshield, sport bar, removable tops and
doors, available full-framed or half doors, and hard and soft tops.
Offered in three models -- Wrangler X, Sahara and Rubicon -- the
all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler is lean, rugged and simple, achieving
best-in-class off-road capability while delivering a true open-air
driving experience. With solid axles, removable doors, exposed
hinges, a fold-down windshield and innovative removable and
convertible tops, Jeep Wrangler retains the brand's coveted core
values of freedom, adventure, mastery and authenticity. With dozens
of different top, door and windshield combinations, nine unique
exterior colors and available 16-, 17-, or 18-inch wheels, the
all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler provides a customized appearance for a
variety of customers. Jeep Brand The heroic heritage of Jeep and
its dominance of the sport-utility market stretch back more than 65
years. Jeep is known worldwide for its core attributes of mastery,
authenticity, freedom and adventure. Later this year, in addition
to the Wrangler, Jeep will also launch the 2007 Jeep Compass and
Jeep Patriot, effectively growing Jeep's appeal to all-new
customers, with compact Jeep 4x4s that deliver, fun, freedom,
utility and capability, as well as exceptional fuel economy and
interior flexibility -- all at a great value. These new vehicles
will expand the brand's global lineup, which now includes Jeep
Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty (Cherokee outside
North America) and the legendary Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep brand
continues to gain momentum, with 2005 sales up more than 10
percent. More than 400,000 Jeep SUVs were sold in the U.S. last
year. Jeep Trail Rated The Jeep Trail Rated badge on the all-new
2007 Jeep Wrangler verifies that the vehicle has been designed to
perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions identified
by five key consumer-oriented performance categories: traction,
ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording.
Jeep Trail Rated is an industry-leading methodology established by
the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) and Jeep Engineering to
objectively measure and consistently predict off-road performance
for all Jeep vehicles. Through a combination of natural and
controlled field tests, as well as computer simulated environments,
Jeep Trail Rated provides a repeatable and consistent measurement
of off-road performance for Jeep vehicles. Only Jeep vehicles are
Trail Rated. Worldwide Availability Sold in key international
markets throughout the world, the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler is
available with a Diesel engine, as well as left- and
right-hand-drive models. Built at Chrysler Group's Stickney Avenue
Toledo Assembly Plant in Toledo, Ohio, the 2007 Jeep Wrangler will
arrive in Jeep dealerships in the fall of 2006. DATASOURCE:
