* Automaker commits another $15,000 for two more fellowships for the National Association of Minority Media Executives * DaimlerChrysler continues its commitment to the training and development of diverse leadership in communications AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler Group has announced that it will continue its partnership with the National Association of Minority Media Executives (NAMME) as part of its Leadership in Diversity and Communications (LIDAC) fellowship program. The announcement was made during NAMME's 13th annual conference, which took place July 11-13, in Washington, D.C. The fellowship comes under the auspices of DaimlerChrysler's LIDAC fellowship program, which provides leadership development training to experienced communication professionals to increase the number of minority media executives and owners. The first fellowship was announced at the beginning of 2005 in partnership with the National Association of Black-Owned Broadcasters (NABOB). "By continuing our partnership with NAMME, Chrysler Group's LIDAC fellowship program helps accomplished minority professionals increase their effectiveness and advance their careers in the communications industry," said Jason Vines, Vice President - Communications, Chrysler Group. "This training benefits the professionals, their companies and communities across the nation." DaimlerChrysler's LIDAC Fellowships are offered under NAMME's Leadership Development Institute (LDI), which is managed by the NAMME Foundation. LDI is a three-day, hands-on program for new and middle managers of color. Program participants sharpen their leadership skills, learn how to develop their careers, and successfully contribute to the goals of their organizations. Through group interaction and discussion, the participants also share their experiences of trying to achieve personal and professional goals in a race- sensitive society. "We are delighted that Chrysler Group has committed to renew our partnership," said Toni Laws, Executive Director of NAMME. "The Chrysler Group LIDAC Fellowships allows us to expand our outreach efforts to broadcast professionals." In 2005, the first two Chrysler Group LIDAC Fellowships were given to Tina Cartagena, Development Director for CUVO Public Radio in Denver, Colo. and Milt Norton, supervisor at KUSA-TV in Denver. Cartagena has 22 years managerial experience and Norton has a background in television operations and production. DaimlerChrysler will also host a "Fellows Retreat" at its corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., where all of the fellowship recipients will have an opportunity to meet with company executives and glean from their corporate knowledge. Celebrating its 13th anniversary, NAMME is an influential organization of media managers and executives of color working in newspapers, broadcasting, magazines and online media. Its 400 members range from middle managers to newspaper publishers and broadcast general managers, as well as media entrepreneurs. More than 90 percent of its membership is African American, Hispanic, Asian American and Native American.
