Members of the Red Hat Society Converge at Harrah's Las Vegas to
break the Guinness World Record(TM) for "Most People in a Chorus
Line." LAS VEGAS, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Las Vegas Strip was
bright with more than just neon lights on Saturday, as members of
the Red Hat Society gathered at Harrah's Las Vegas in an attempt to
break a world record. Approximately 1700 "hatters" participated in
the choreographed chorus line to welcome the new musical comedy
HATS! to Harrah's Las Vegas and to kick their way into history.

is thrilled that Harrah's has embraced HATS! and the Red Hat
Society as part of their family," said Sue Ellen Cooper, founder
and "Exalted Queen Mother" of the Red Hat Society. "We wanted to
let the world know that we're in Las Vegas and we can-can do
anything!" The existing record was set in 2004 with 1,628
participants. On Jan. 26, the Red Hat Society had members from
across the country come to Las Vegas, in full purple and red
regalia, to form a chorus line that extended nearly a half-mile
along the Strip. The hatters were joined by Harrah's resident
headliner Rita Rudner, who had the honor of the final, punctuating
kick of the chorus line. HATS!, which opened earlier this month at
Harrah's Las Vegas, is a witty stage production that is inspired by
the fun-loving lifestyle encouraged by the Red Hat Society.
Outrageous costumes, clever choreography and memorable music make
HATS! a truly unique experience. The story, which follows one
character's internal struggle with embracing her fiftieth birthday,
is told through the music by an acclaimed songwriting team of
Grammy, Golden Globe and Tony award-winning artists including Susan
Birkenhead, Kathie Lee Gifford, Melissa Manchester, Henry Krieger,
Pam Tillis and many others. ***The attempt by the Red Hat Society
to break the previous record is subject to authentication from the
Guinness Committee. For more information on HATS! or Harrah's
