UBC Media Group plc announces GMG stations join AA Roadwatch network
UBC syndicated service to become leader in
traffic and travel news in national capital
UBC Media Group plc ("UBC"), the UK's leading audio content provider, today
announced the addition of GMG Radio Holdings' Real Radio network and Jazz FM
stations to its AA Roadwatch syndicated advertising network.
With the controversial congestion charge due to be introduced in London on
Monday 17 February, today's agreement means the AA Roadwatch service, syndicated
by UBC, will become the clear market leader in traffic and travel information in
the nation's capital.
The AA Roadwatch up-to-the-minute traffic and travel service will now be
available to seven leading London radio stations with a combined weekly reach of
7.5 million listeners.
GMG's Jazz FM joins Chrysalis Radio's Heart FM, LBC AM and LBC FM which carry
the service on a barter basis in which UBC retains the rights to sell airtime
within the traffic bulletins as part of its national advertising packages. In
addition, Capital FM, Capital Gold and XFM take the AA Roadwatch service on a
cash basis.
Announcing the deal, UBC's Commercial Director John Quinn said:
"This is a great coup for us. The addition of the GMG group stations makes the
AA Roadwatch network a truly national advertising opportunity by extending our
reach into Scotland and Wales in addition to strengthening our hold on the
all-important London marketplace."
GMG's Commercial Director Jon Hewson said:
"The AA has a proven track record of providing up-to-the-minute and accurate
traffic and travel information, and UBC's service provides an ideal synergy with
each of our stations across the UK."
Today's announcement increases the AA Roadwatch advertising network to 88
stations nationwide and increases the total potential audience by 2.5 million to
21 million listeners weekly.
