MANILA--Cebu Air Inc. (CEB.PH), the Philippines' largest budget
carrier by revenue and fleet size, said Wednesday it formally
signed in London a $280 million long-term maintenance deal with
Rolls Royce Holdings PLC (RYCEY).
Rolls Royce will service the Trent 700 engines in Airbus A330
aircraft purchased by Cebu Air, also known as Cebu Pacific.
The deal was among three business agreements signed Tuesday
during President Benigno Aquino's U.K. visit.
Cebu Pacific first announced in February its intention to select
Rolls Royce's TotalCare support services shortly after declaring
its plans to buy A330s for delivery by 2013 for its planned
long-haul operations.
The A330 is the first aircraft in Cebu Pacific's fleet to use
the Trent engine.
Cebu Pacific plans to buy up to eight A330s to service routes to
Europe, Middle East, Oceania and the U.S.
