During the Army-Navy game on Saturday, Dec. 4, a donation drop-off point will be located in the Jeep exhibit at the 11th Street entrance to Lincoln Financial Field. Donations will be collected for the duration of the game, which kicks off at 2:30 p.m. UPS volunteers will pack the donations immediately following the contest. In addition, now through Jan. 3, 2005, the 58 Jeep dealerships in Greater Philadelphia will accept OPERATION GRATITUDE donations. Individuals wishing to show their support for U.S. troops are encouraged to donate items, such as phone cards, games, new DVDs and CDs, packaged food, reading materials and letters of support. "As Americans, we enjoy the freedom and security U.S. troops provide us every day," said Jeff Bell, Vice President Chrysler and Jeep. "We are happy to have an opportunity to give something back to those who have given us back so much." OPERATION GRATITUDE, a non-profit organization founded in March 2003 by Carolyn Blashek to support U.S. Troops serving in some of the world's harshest locations, is funded entirely by private donations and staffed exclusively by volunteers. "UPS is one of the nation's largest employers of reservists, many of whom are currently serving on active duty, which makes joining Jeep in support of OPERATION GRATITUDE especially rewarding," said Grady Hopper, UPS Vice President of Business Development. "The men and women of our armed forces deserve to know we appreciate their sacrifices," said Carolyn Blashek, Founder OPERATION GRATITUDE. "The support we are getting from Jeep, UPS and others is incredible. It will not only touch the lives of tens of thousands of soldiers this holiday season, but will also help raise awareness for OPERATION GRATITUDE so we will be able to continue our efforts throughout the year." As the exclusive automotive sponsor of the Army-Navy game, the Jeep brand will use broadcast opportunities surrounding the game to help promote OPERATION GRATITUDE. Additionally, the Philadelphia Jeep dealers will encourage donations in newspaper and broadcast advertisements. The game will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network, the Westwood One Radio Network, the Army Radio Network and locally on WDAS 1460 radio and CBS 3 KYW-TV. "The Philadelphia Jeep dealers are proud to support our men and women in uniform," said Sam DeAngelis, President of the Philadelphia Jeep Dealer Association. "We are privileged to be part of the Army-Navy game and to sponsor OPERATION GRATITUDE." This partnership is but one element of the Jeep brand's support of the U.S. armed forces. Other elements include the Jeep Military Incentive program, sponsorship of U.S. Military Academy and U.S. Naval Academy athletic programs, as well as other military-based events throughout the year. The Jeep brand is the only "official vehicle" ever chosen in the 105-year history of the Army-Navy game.
