Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR) said Friday that its first-half net profit rose significantly, and backed its guidance for the year.

Net profit at the state-controlled utility rose to 2.50 billion euros ($2.79 billion) compared with EUR1.73 billion a year earlier. Sales rose to EUR36.47 billion from EUR34.96 billion.

Chief Executive Jean-Bernard Levy said the results are in line with the company's forecasts. For 2019, the company continues to expect earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization of between EUR16.0 billion and EUR16.7 billion, as well as cash flow of at least EUR600 million.
