Electricite de France S.A. (EDF.FR) said Thursday that it will start construction of the Scottish Neart na Gaoithe wind farm in cooperation with Ireland's Electricity Supply Board, its 50% partner on the project.

The 450 megawatt project will be 15 kilometers off the shore of Fife, in the east of Scotland. The French utility said that the electricity generated from the project will be enough to meet 4% of Scotland's consumption needs.

Contractors on the project include Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy S.A. (SGRE.MC), Saipem S.p.A. (SPM.MI), and GE Renewable Energy Grid Solutions, EDF added.
