U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said her government is keen to support Tanzania's efforts to end the power crisis through investments, with the aim to generate 3,000 megawatts for the national grid by 2015, The Guardian newspaper reported Monday.

Clinton was speaking in Dar es Salaam Sunday during a tour of the U.S. power plant of Symbion Power LLC, as part of her official three-day visit to Tanzania, the Tanzanian newspaper said.

"So far, only 14% of Tanzanians have access to electricity [and it is] still struggling with blackouts. We want to see ... many people getting reliable and affordable electricity," the daily quotes Clinton as saying.
