The Renew Our Rivers program is part of Georgia Power's continuing
environmental stewardship efforts to clean up rivers and waterways
throughout Georgia. Georgia Power is partnering with a number of
conservation groups to help make Georgia's rivers cleaner. Georgia
Power is seeking volunteers to participate in this year's events in
communities across the state. The project also supports Georgia's
Rivers Alive program sponsored annually by the Department of
Natural Resources' Environmental Protection Division and Keep
Georgia Beautiful. "In past years volunteers have found everything
from the refrigerator to the kitchen sink," said Georgia Power's
Tanya Blalock, manager of water programs in the department of
Environmental Affairs. "This year, we are looking to clean more
areas in hopes of finding less trash. We hope that people will
finally get the message and are starting to better protect our
natural resources," she said. This year's remaining river cleanup
