DENVER, Jan. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Today DCP Midstream launched its new identity, coincident with Duke Energy's legal separation of its power and gas businesses. Formerly Duke Energy Field Services, DCP Midstream is jointly owned by ConocoPhillips and Spectra Energy, the former natural gas business arm of Duke Energy. "This is an exciting new chapter for us. We have aligned our name with that of our successful master limited partnership, DCP Midstream Partners, which we created in December 2005. Our intention is to underscore our shared strategy of growth and performance excellence," said Bill Easter, chairman, president and CEO of DCP Midstream. "While our name is changing, our commitment to customer service and environmental and safety leadership remains constant. We are an integral part of the energy value chain and are committed to meeting society's growing need for clean energy and related products in a responsible way." DCP Midstream, as we will be known beginning today, was formed in March 2000 by combining the natural gas gathering and processing businesses of Duke Energy and ConocoPhillips' former GPM Gas Corporation. DCP Midstream, LLC, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, is a leader in the midstream segment as one of the nation's largest natural gas gatherers and processors, and the largest natural gas liquids (NGLs) producers and NGL marketers. DCP Midstream operates in 16 states across the five largest natural gas-producing regions in the United States. DCP Midstream is a 50-50 joint venture between Spectra Energy and ConocoPhillips. DCP Midstream owns the General Partner of DCP Midstream Partners, LP, a master limited partnership, and provides operational and administrative support to the partnership.
