Aberforth Geared Capital & Income Trust plc

Admission to the Official List

The Board of Aberforth Geared Capital & Income Trust plc ("Company") announces 
today that gross proceeds of #35,000,000 have been received pursuant to the 
Placing and the Offer for Subscription ("Issue"), all as described in the 
prospectus of the Company dated 3 December 2001, of 24,500,000 Income Shares of 
1p each and 10,500,000 Capital Shares of 1p each in the Company ("Income and 
Capital Shares") at a price of 100p per share.  Total expenses relating to the 
Issue will be approximately 2.2% of the initial gross proceeds.  Dealings in the
Income and Capital Shares are expected to commence on 18 December 2001 and 
certificates for the Income and Capital Shares are expected to commence on 18 
December 2001 and certificates for the Income and Capital Shares are expected to
be despatched by 22 December 2001.
