                   Tender to supply batteries to China Unicom



China Shoto (AIM:CHNS), a leading Chinese producer of industrial batteries and
power supply systems, today announces that its subsidiary Jiangsu Shuangdeng
Power Supply Co., Ltd ('Jiangsu') is one of a number of companies to have won
tenders through a competitive bidding process to supply China Unicom, the second
largest mobile telecommunications operator in China, with 2V and 12V AGM and GEL
batteries. China Shoto's share has an estimated value of #8 million over 9
months.


Cao Guifa, Chairman of China Shoto plc, said: "This latest tender will make
China Shoto the largest supplier of AGM- and GEL-type batteries to China Unicom
and consolidates our relationship with one of the world's leading international
cellular operators.  China Shoto has been continuing to grow according to plan
with a number of smaller contracts which underpin the Group's prospects for the
current financial year."

increased capacity has lead to strong demand for improving the efficiency and
output of existing steam turbines as well as demand for new build turbines.


The Group has an extensive research and development facility and also has strong
relationships with Chinese universities.  Research projects include the
improvement existing products as well as the development of super capacitors,
lithium batteries and direct methanol fuel cells.  China Shoto over 90 patents
registered in China.


With extensive modern facilities in Taizhou City, some 220 kilometres from
Shanghai, a manufacturing facility in Beijing and a large research and
development facility in Nanjing, China Shoto has a leading position in the fast
growing global reserve power and rechargeable battery market.
