Celadon Wins Prestigious National Safety Award INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Celadon Trucking Services was announced on Tuesday as the 1st Place winner of the Truckload Carriers Association's highly-coveted 2004 National Fleet Safety Award for carriers over 100 million miles. Celadon trucks travel over 20,000,000 miles each month. "This recognition is a testament to our drivers' commitment to road safety and our Safety Department's training programs," said Celadon Group President and Chief Operating Officer Thomas Glaser. "We're extremely proud we can say our drivers are the best in the industry. Bill Osborn, our vice president of safety, has been extremely effective in administering solid programs to track, train and follow-up on our drivers' performance." The award marks the third time in four years that Celadon has been recognized by the TCA for their drivers' safety performance. "We've established an excellent reputation for safety in our industry," said Glaser. "Our customers know they can depend on us to deliver their loads safely and the communities in which our trucks travel know they can expect the best from our drivers." The National Fleet Safety Division Awards are determined by accident frequency per million miles driven in each of six mileage divisions, ranging from under 5 million miles for Division I to over 100 million miles for Division VI. The top three division winners were selected and audited by an independent expert to verify their accident frequency numbers. Ratios per million miles for all division winners ranged from zero to .4100. From the division winners two grand prize winners will be selected, one in the under 25 million mile category and one in the over 25 million mile category. To win the grand prize, companies will be judged on their overall safety programs, both on and off-highway including employee driver/independent contractor selection procedures, training, supervision, accident investigation, inspection and maintenance of equipment, and outside activities including general highway safety. The two grand prize winning companies will be announced on March 8 at the TCA annual convention at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas. About Celadon Group: Founded in 1985, Celadon Group Inc.
