Idox drives Local Government
transformation with £2.4m North Yorkshire strategic
partnership
Idox, a leading supplier of specialist
information management software and geospatial data solutions
announces a landmark £2.4m contract with North Yorkshire Council,
the largest unitary authority in England, signalling an important
moment in the UK's local government digital modernisation journey.
Under the partnership, Idox will work with North Yorkshire Council
to consolidate its eight planning and building control systems into
one new cloud system, to enhance service delivery and create a more
cost-efficient platform.
This move follows recent announcements from the
UK government regarding plans to restructure local authorities and
consolidate services across England. With the government aiming to
simplify local governance by merging district and county councils,
this deal with North Yorkshire positions Idox as a key player in
supporting the UK government's ambitious vision of creating more
efficient, streamlined local governance models.
David Meaden, Chief Executive Officer
said
"This latest
contract award demonstrates our leading planning software
capabilities and track record of successfully delivering complex
projects. We're not just implementing a solution; we're helping
North Yorkshire reimagine how planning services can be delivered
more intelligently and cost-effectively."
"With the
government intensifying its focus on creating more resilient,
digitally enabled local governance structures, Idox is
strategically positioned to be a key enabler of this national
transformation."
Graeme Thistlethwaite, Head of Systems and
Applications, at North Yorkshire Council commented
"We are
excited to be working with Idox to consolidate our eight planning
and building control systems into one new cloud system to transform
our service now and, in the years, to come. The aim of this is to
deliver excellent value for money services while improving outcomes
for local people, businesses, and communities across North
Yorkshire."
The consolidation initiative in North Yorkshire
is expected to yield long-term benefits, including cost savings,
enhanced service delivery, and a more efficient allocation of
resources. This deal will also provide a model for other councils
undertaking similar changes in response to the national push for
streamlined local government.
With the government's recent focus on empowering
elected mayors and creating larger, more financially sustainable
councils, Idox anticipates further opportunities in local
government consolidation. The group has a strong track record of
delivering successful consolidation projects, including those in
Cornwall, Shropshire, Durham, and more, which underscores the
group's capability in helping councils navigate these essential
transformations. As local authorities across the UK look to
reorganise and improve governance, Idox is ideally placed to help
navigate this period of change.
