Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: ACTU) (NASDAQ: BIRT), The people behind BIRT® and the leading open source Business Intelligence vendor, today announced that it has recognized Johnson Controls Inc., The National Airway Systems Engineering group of the Federal Aviation Administration, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, Saint Louis Children’s Hospital and Taleo Corporation with its 2010 Excellence Awards. These organizations are recognized for their innovation and impressive return on investment through the use of Actuate and BIRT. Additional 2010 Excellence Awards will be presented at the upcoming Actuate Customer Days in Paris, London and Frankfurt.

Johnson Controls won in the Scorecard Excellence category by contracting with Actuate to create a Custodial Scorecard Dashboard using BIRT iServer. The new dashboard allows an unprecedented level of visibility to JCI’s performance data and pulls information from multiple views in BIRT Performance Scorecard (BPS), and even includes a geographical display that allows users to see stores on a map and drill down into the scorecard.

The National Airway Systems Engineering group of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is recognized in the BIRT Implementation Excellence category. They utilize BIRT to provide secure, flexible and reliable information application solutions for FAA employees and contractors at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City. BIRT provides the FAA a structure to build front-end dashboards for a large number of operational, financial, and engineering applications. The BIRT dashboards and reports provide instant access to summarized information at a high level for managers. From that summarized level of reporting, all users can drill down into more detailed information necessary to perform their day-to-day job functions.

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) won in the Scorecard Excellence category for its successful and timely implementation of BIRT Performance Scorecard. SMUD uses BIRT Scorecard to manage operational performance metrics, employee safety, sustainability, as well as financial measures across business units.

“We are truly honored to receive the Actuate Excellence Award for our performance management initiative,” said Attila Miszti, enterprise performance, process coordinator, Sacramento Municipal Utility District. “BIRT Performance Scorecard has proven to be flexible enough to accommodate the varied needs of our business units and their performance measures.”

Saint Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) won in the Scorecard Excellence category. SLCH leverages BIRT OnPerformance Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) scorecard to better manage healthcare costs for greater accountability, maintain superior level of patient care, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and audits.

“We are excited to receive this award from Actuate,” said Shvetal Doshi, performance measurement manager, St. Louis Children’s Hospital. “Performance scorecards are helping SLCH to improve the way we hold our departments accountable. We now have a single, standard source for key performance metrics -- from cost and quality management, to patient satisfaction and employee productivity,”

Taleo Corporation won in the BIRT Implementation category for its implementation of Actuate and BIRT into its Taleo Business Edition software to help its customers deploy on demand talent management solutions to bridge talent intelligence gaps.

“We are pleased to win this award from Actuate,” said Leonid Igolnik, Taleo Corporation. “Actuate and BIRT in Taleo Business Edition helps our customers gain insights into their number one asset — their people.”
