Indiana University today announced
winners of the third annual International Case Competition on the
Strategic Value of IT Management. The winners were chosen and
announced at the CA World user conference in Las Vegas (Nov.
12 – 16).
The competition brought together students from business and
information technology disciplines to demonstrate and evaluate the
strategic value of IT management for an organization. Ten global
teams, comprised of three graduate students with at least one
student pursuing a degree in information technology (IT) or
information systems (IS), participated in the event.
The winners included:
- First Place: Brian
Eshpeter, Laura Higgins and
Carolyn Nalder from The
University of Calgary were awarded
$10,000.
- Second Place: Ravi Dhanwani, Telma Frege and Karthik
Sekhar from the University of South
Florida were awarded $5,000.
- Third Place: Andreas
Nielsen, Christian Refshauge
and Mads Wadstroem from Copenhagen Business School were awarded
$2,500.
Prior to arriving at the competition, the teams were provided
with a case study on a company in the throes of change. This year's
case study was provided by global payments technology company, Visa
Inc. (NYSE: V). During the competition, teams presented their
recommendations on how the company could adapt and align its IT
infrastructure to take advantage of new business opportunities and
adjacent markets, while leveraging its extensive IT
capabilities.
