CA Inc. (CA) filed a suit against AppDynamics Inc., claiming the company, which was founded by a former employee, infringed on some of CA's patents.

AppDynamics founder and Chief Executive Jyoti Bansal led the design and architecture effort for several products at Wily Technology, before CA's $375 million acquisition of the company. Mr. Jyoti founded AppDynamics in early 2008, according the company's website.

CA is seeking an injunction against AppDynamics as well as an undisclosed amount of damages over the infringement of patents that CA says were part of the Wily acquisition.

An AppDynamics spokesman wasn't immediately available to comment.

This is the second patent suit filed related to the technology. During November, CA accused privately held New Relic Inc., which was founded by former CA and Wily employee Lew Cirne, of reusing the some of the intellectual property CA also acquired in the Wily Technology deal.

The three companies offer tools for application-performance management, a software niche that allows information-technology managers to track how efficiently programs are working.

CA shares were up 1.3% at $25 in recent trading. The stock is up 14% this year.
