CATC Announces PETrainer(TM) EML x16 PCI Express Protocol Traffic
Generator and Exerciser Unique and Powerful Features of 16-Lane PCI
Express Exerciser to Complement CATC's Industry-Leading Line of
Protocol Design Verification Systems SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 7
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM -- Computer Access
Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:CATZ) (CATC), a global
communications protocol expert company and leading provider of
advanced design verification systems and connectivity tools, today
announced the next generation of its industry-leading PCI Express
family of products, the PETrainer EML. This 16-lane PCI Express
Traffic Generator and Exerciser complements the recently introduced
PETracer(TM) EML protocol analyzer by delivering a comprehensive
analysis and testing solution capable of assisting developers with
early validation of product designs along with error injection and
stress testing in preparation for compliance testing. PETrainer EML
features script level traffic generation, manual error injection
and extensive exerciser capabilities, including end point
emulation. When used with a CATC PETracer analyzer, the integrated
system allows engineers to generate reliable and repeatable traffic
and concurrently record and analyze selected traffic. "The
PETrainer EML system enables engineers to generate legal and
illegal traffic in order to properly validate their solutions,"
stated Fred Rastgar, director of Computing Products for CATC. "We
continue to support our customers with leading test and analysis
systems. In conjunction with the PETracer analyzers, the PETrainer
exerciser rounds out our offering of PCI Express test and analysis
solutions." "The PCI Express industry is seeing rapid adoption with
the introduction of many new high-speed applications," said Jim
Pappas, director of technology initiatives for Intel's Enterprise
Platform Group. "To accelerate product development and foster
innovation, it is important for platform designers, add-in card
manufacturers and system integrators to have the latest protocol
analysis and advanced verification systems." The PETrainer EML is
built on CATC's newest and most advanced Universal Protocol
Analyzer System(TM) (UPAS(TM)) platform to date, the UPAS 100K, a
high-bandwidth hardware platform capable of supporting multi-lane
analysis and traffic generation for PCI Express as well as Fibre
Channel, InfiniBand, SAS and Serial ATA. The UPAS 100K is
specifically designed for high-speed serial protocols such as PCI
Express. The expanded memory buffer of 8 GB allows users to capture
or create deeper traces. The platform also provides future
scalability with expanded hardware capabilities and the capacity
for additional plug-in modules in the same chassis, significantly
reducing the lifecycle cost of ownership. The PETrainer EML
utilizes the unique and intuitive CATC Trace(TM) expert analysis
software, giving users the power to logically group events in a
hierarchical display. The CATC Trace is a powerful and intuitive
expert software system embedding detailed knowledge of the protocol
hierarchy and intricacies, as defined in the protocol
specification. The software allows the user to control the analyzer
and set specific real-time triggering and filtering conditions.
Availability CATC is accepting orders for the PETrainer EML with
delivery beginning in Q4, 2004. For further information, please
