Third Annual Salary Survey Reveals High Employee Morale in the Midwest

According to findings from Lab Manager Magazine's third annual
salary survey, employee morale has generally remained high in the
Midwest despite the state of the current economy. This is the first
year that Kelly Scientific Resources, a specialty service of Kelly
Services (NASDAQ: KELYA) (NASDAQ: KELYB), has sponsored the survey
with Lab Manager Magazine.
Throughout the Midwest, survey respondents seem to be optimistic
about both their current positions and their future careers,
despite the uncertain conditions of the region's economy. More than
90 percent of survey respondents are pleased with the type of work
that they perform on a day-to-day basis while over 70 percent of
respondents feel valued by their management teams.
The survey also revealed that Midwest respondents typically
display loyalty towards organizations, many having worked for their
current employers on an average of four years. Meanwhile, according
to the survey, more than 70 percent of respondents believe their
current positions are secure.
The survey also found that a majority of respondents not only
think that their organizations provide them with opportunities to
advance to higher-paid positions with more responsibility, but that
their career goals are being met within their current organizations
as well. Each of these two influential positives tends to lead
employees to long-term commitments to organizations.
Diane Barker, science product manager with Kelly Scientific
Resources, believes that the positive results of the survey show
just how determined Midwestern science professionals are to succeed
and how dedicated they are to their positions and
organizations.
"Despite a rather challenging economy, Midwesterners continue to
remain quite upbeat about their current jobs, as well as their
futures within the science industry," said Barker. "The resiliency
of Midwest professionals will help them not only survive during the
challenges of the recession, but thrive as well."
