Government Security News

NICE named best vendor in three categories: Intelligent Video Surveillance, Forensic Software,
and PSIM Solution

Paramus, New Jersey, December 3, 2014 – NICE Systems (NASDAQ: NICE) today announced that it is the winner of multiple Homeland Security Awards from Government Security News (GSN) for Best Intelligent Video Surveillance, Best Forensic Software and Best PSIM Solution. Five NICE customers were also honored as “Most Notable” in their respective categories. The GSN awards acknowledge the outstanding achievements of security solution providers and government agencies at the federal, state and municipal levels.

Suspect Search, a patent-pending video analytics technology, was recognized for its ability to quickly locate and retrace the movements of a person of interest within a video surveillance network. The solution can scan an hour of video in less than a minute, automatically filtering out 95 percent of irrelevant images, aiding both real-time and post-event investigations.

NICE Situator was distinguished for providing advanced Physical Security Information Management (PSIM). The system consolidates data from various sensors, like CCTV and access control, within a single operations center. This information is filtered into pre-defined response plans to help operators better manage situations in real time.

Additionally, NICE customers were honored in the following categories:

·
Most Notable Airport/Aviation Security Program

·
Most Notable Maritime/Seaport Security Program

·
Most Notable Railroad/Mass Transit Security Program:

·
Most Notable Municipal/County Security Program, Project or Initiative

“The pool of nominees for this year’s GSN Homeland Security Awards was very competitive, as always, so the large number of awards received by NICE and its clients is really a testament to NICE’s superb security solutions and its ability to deliver,” said Adrian Courtenay, CEO of World Business Media, LLC, which publishes Government Security News. “The NICE solutions have all the hallmarks that the GSN Homeland Security Awards judges were looking for in winning entries – technological innovation, ability to enhance security and overall operations, filling recognized government IT security gaps, and the flexibility to meet both current and future security needs of government organizations.”

“This has been another great year for NICE – winning eight GSN Homeland Security awards is the icing on the cake for us and our customers,” said Chris Wooten, Executive Vice President, NICE Security Group. “Our Suspect Search solution alone picked up two major awards, adding to the numerous accolades received in recent months. But it is really our customer awards we are most proud of, as this reaffirm NICE’s ability to provide real return on investment to its customers worldwide and our commitment to developing innovative solutions that help organizations solve complex security and operational problems.”

NICE’s security solutions help organizations capture, analyze and leverage big data to anticipate, manage and mitigate security and safety risks, improve operations, and make the world a safer place. The NICE security, intelligence and cyber offerings provide valuable insights that enable enterprises and government agencies to take the best action at the right time by correlating structured and unstructured data from multiple sensors and channels, detecting irregular patterns, and recognizing trends. The solutions have been deployed to help secure a broad range of organizations and events, such as banks, utility companies, airports, seaports, city centers, transportation systems, major tourist attractions, as well as sporting events and diplomatic meetings.

NICE Systems and CloudScann Provide a New Perspective for
Security Organizations with Mobile App Solution

NICE and CloudScann partner on integrated mobile app, initially deployed at NJ
TRANSIT, that vastly extends situational awareness and expedites critical response

Paramus, New Jersey and Baldwin, New York – December 10, 2014 – Video cameras help maintain safety and security, but a new partnership is providing a new perspective on the ground for security organizations. NICE Systems (NASDAQ: NICE) and CloudScann have announced an integrated mobile application solution, turning smartphones into reporting tools to document incidents as they happen and allowing officials to act faster to resolve them.

The integrated solution combines NICE’s situation management solution, Situator, with CloudScann’s hosted See It Send It mobile app. By using the app on their smartphones, field personnel can report incidents, including sending video and photos, to a centralized command center through NICE Situator. Communication is bi-directional, so Situator can also push incident alerts, task lists, and links to live video feeds to the mobile app. This will extend the real-time awareness of safety, security, and operational issues for the largest statewide public transportation system in the U.S.

Situator pinpoints the GPS location of the sender’s phone as the incident location, and can then pull up video feeds from nearby surveillance cameras. The command center operator immediately sees who’s sending the alert, where it originated, what’s happening, and what actions to take. The app is also equipped with a panic button.

NJ TRANSIT has already deployed the solution at a major event, and plans to extend the use of the app for daily use among its maintenance, customer service, and transit police personnel. For example, maintenance staff will be able to view assigned work orders, their location and related video, and report back to the control room when the job is complete.

Chris Wooten, Executive Vice President, NICE Security Group
“By extending these capabilities to field personnel for daily use and to transit employees for large events, organizations will gain unprecedented situational awareness to help ensure the highest levels of security, safety, operational efficiency, and customer service for passengers. We believe it’s a model in mobile technology innovation that other transit agencies will surely want to emulate.”

Dan Kerning, CEO, CloudScann
“The CloudScann See It Send It app and NICE Situator technologies are truly complementary. The combination of the two promises significant benefits, not only for transit but for other organizations that want to improve their situational awareness, communication, and collaboration.”

Largest Military Medical Facility in Department of Defense Selects NICE
Suspect Search to Help Ensure Patient Security and Safety

San Antonio Military Medical Center deploys NICE’s video analytics solution, which will
allow personnel to quickly search for a specific person within large volumes of video

Paramus, New Jersey – December 22, 2014 – NICE Systems (NASDAQ: NICE) today announced that the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), the largest U.S. Department of Defense Level I Trauma and Burn Research Center, is in the process of deploying the NICE Suspect Search video analytics solution. This will enable personnel to track and locate missing patients or suspicious persons during time-critical scenarios to help ensure ongoing security and safety at a facility that serves hundreds of thousands of U.S. service members and their families.

The adoption of Suspect Search builds on SAMMC’s existing NiceVision video surveillance solution, which has been used to investigate incidents related to patient safety and well-being. Now, the combined solution will help SAMMC teams locate and track persons of interest in a matter of seconds and amidst hours of footage. By providing near-real-time, actionable information about someone’s whereabouts and movements, Suspect Search accelerates response times to mitigate the impact.

SAMMC will also integrate Suspect Search into an existing system designed to prevent infant abduction. The system, which combines wireless radio frequency technology, RFID bracelets, and video surveillance, automatically triggers an alarm and streaming video if an infant is removed from a designated area. Suspect Search will add another layer of protection against such incidents by providing a means to visually identify and track the subsequent movement of a suspected abductor within minutes of an alert, before the suspect has been able to leave hospital grounds.

“By using Suspect Search to significantly accelerate its response time to security and safety incidents, SAMMC can better fulfill its mission of delivering world-class medical care while ensuring that every patient’s visit is safeguarded,” said Chris Wooten, Executive Vice President, NICE Security Group. “This deployment highlights the solution’s capabilities in a range of scenarios and across various verticals, demonstrating the value of Suspect Search for large-scale security operations globally.”

NICE Suspect Search can be used to aid investigations in a number of time-critical scenarios—for example, in locating missing children; searching for an active shooter, intruder, or other criminal suspect; identifying the owner of unattended or suspicious baggage; or finding the perpetrator of a checkpoint breach at SAMMC entrances. Suspect Search analyzes video as it’s recorded to create unique body signatures which are captured and stored with the video. This enables organizations to use a video image, uploaded photo, or user-generated composite to scan hours of video in minutes, automatically filtering out 95 percent of irrelevant images. Suspect Search also provides geo-spatial awareness by retracing a suspect’s movements across cameras and pinpointing the suspect’s current or last known location. All images, related video, and locations associated with each search are digitally stamped and can be saved or shared with external agencies for investigation and prosecution.

Possible Missions and Precision Task Group of Houston are the system integrators for this project.

NICE’s Customer Engagement Analytics creates a complete view of the customer journey by capturing and analyzing all customer interactions, transactions and events. By leveraging Big Data, interaction analytics and predictive models, it helps organizations map individual customer behavior across time and touch points in order to understand context, uncover patterns, predict customer needs, and personalize interactions in real time. This drives business initiatives like call volume reduction and sales optimization, and can tie into Voice of the Customer programs.

Taking Action for Improvement

The NICE Fizzback solution enables organizations to better understand customer needs and preferences by extracting insights from real-time customer feedback. Organizations can quickly and easily understand the key drivers of customer dissatisfaction and take action for immediate improvement. Feedback can also be used to promote frontline staff coaching and reward high performers.

Miki Migdal, President of the NICE Enterprise Product Group
“NICE is committed to ongoing product innovation to help organizations exceed their customers’ expectations and deliver a high return on investment. These awards from TMC CUSTOMER magazine reinforce our position as a leading provider of customer experience solutions, which enable organizations to engage with their customers across channels and touch points and take action to improve the customer journey at every step.”

“NICE is a prominent player in the market that has shown its dedication to providing quality solutions that benefit the customers’ overall experience. We are proud to recognize NICE in our 2015 Product of the Year awards, and look forward to seeing new developments in the coming year.”

The 17th annual Product of the Year award winners will be published in the January/February 2015 issue of CUSTOMER magazine.
