DALLAS, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- HIMSS Annual Conference &
Exhibition -- Healthcare professionals for the first time now have
high-speed, nationwide access to critical information with today's

Wireless' EDGE service, the fastest national wireless data network
in the U.S. Cingular, palmOne Inc., and leading mobile healthcare
solution providers Epocrates(R) Inc., HealthRamp, Inc. and
PatientKeeper(R) will unveil the solutions at the HIMSS show in
Dallas. Cingular will demonstrate the solutions at HIMSS in SBC
Communications Inc. booth #6040. "In today's 24 X 7 world, medical
professionals need fast access to critical patient and clinical
information as well as the ability to write prescriptions using
full-featured, easy-to-use devices even when they are beyond the
four walls of the hospital or office," said Abhi Ingle, executive
director, business solutions, for Cingular Wireless. "Cingular's
alliances with the healthcare industry's leading mobile solutions
providers give clinicians those capabilities through a powerful set
of high-speed wireless tools designed to save them time and further
enhance patient care." Cingular is forming a comprehensive
framework of wireless solutions certified on the GPRS/EDGE network
allowing healthcare providers to efficiently and cost-effectively
deploy a mobile electronic medical record. Healthcare solutions
certified on the Cingular Wireless EDGE network include: -
PatientKeeper: the PatientKeeper Platform(TM) supports a broad
portfolio of applications providing wireless access to patient and
clinical information, including PatientKeeper Clinical Results(TM),
PatientKeeper Charge Capture(TM), PatientKeeper Mobile
Dictation(TM), PatientKeeper ePrescription(TM) (powered by
DrFirst), and PatientKeeper Reference Library(TM). - Epocrates: the
Epocrates(R) Essentials mobile clinical reference suite, which
works seamlessly with PatientKeeper, allows clinicians to receive
regular updates of vital drug, disease and diagnostics information
on their wireless handhelds. Cingular Wireless is the first
national wireless provider to certify Epocrates Essentials for
wireless wide area network use. - HealthRamp: CarePoint provides
HIPAA-compliant eprescribing from a physician's wireless handheld,
including prescription drug interaction information, drug reference
guide, patient medication history, and formulary referencing.
CarePoint is integrated with most popular practice management
systems. All three solution platforms can be accessed via the
recently introduced palmOne Treo(TM) 650. The Treo 650 combines a
compact, full-featured mobile phone with email, messaging, and web
access capabilities, as well as a Palm OS(R) organizer and digital
camera, letting users organize and simplify their business and
personal lives all in one device. The newest member of the Treo
family builds on the award-winning design of the popular Treo 600
-- a favorite of the healthcare industry -- with new and improved
features, including the ability to access data at faster speeds
using EDGE; a high- resolution screen; expanded multimedia
capabilities, such as an MP3 player and video capture and playback;
removable battery; non-volatile memory; and Bluetooth(R) wireless
technology. Equipped with EDGE technology, the Treo 650 can access
accelerated data speeds averaging up to 135 kilobits per second
(kbps), which is nearly three times the speed of a conventional
wired dial-up connection. Cingular's EDGE network is available in
more than 8,500 cities and towns and along 30,000 miles of
highways. Cingular is also building a powerful certified portfolio
of healthcare solutions for EDGE-enabled Pocket PC handhelds to be
released later this year. Cingular Wireless serves 95 of the
