The Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG) Welcomes Swisscom
Fixnet's Service Brand and Internet Division Bluewin to its Board
of Directors Group MAAWG'S 4th General Meeting to be Held in
Duesseldorf, Germany on June 21-23, 2005 WILMINGTON, Del., June 3
/PRNewswire/ -- The Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG), a
group of communications and technology companies committed to
eradicating spam, viruses and other forms of messaging abuse, today
announced that Swisscom Fixnet's service brand and internet
division Bluewin has joined the group at the Board of Directors --
Sponsor level. With this addition the MAAWG surpasses an
addressable base of over 500 million subscribers and increases its
presence in Europe. Swisscom Fixnet/Bluewin has joined MAAWG in an
effort to develop initiatives with all MAAWG members to address the
messaging abuse problem in areas of technology, industry
collaboration and public policy. "With its service brand and ISP
division Bluewin, Swisscom Fixnet is dedicated to continuously
providing our customers the best Internet experience. This
membership aligns with our company's focus on developing innovative
and best-in-class communication solutions that keep our customers
secure while exceeding their expectations," said Charles
d'Heureuse, Head of Bluewin IT for Swisscom Fixnet By addressing
these areas, Swisscom Fixnet/Bluewin and the other MAAWG members
hope to help prevent global spamming, virus and denial-of-attacks
problems facing their current and potential users. Addressing a
single geographic region will not solve the problem. It requires
companies working together across geographic regions in the areas
of technology, collaboration and public policy to help resolve
these issues. "We are excited to have Swisscom Fixnet/Bluewin as a
part of MAAWG's board of directors. We look forward to work with
them to help us define a set of ongoing best practices across
providers to improve deliverability while eliminating spam and
viruses in Europe and across the world," said Rich Wong, Senior
Vice President of Openwave's Product Group and MAAWG Chairman.
MAAWG's next general meeting will be held in Duesseldorf, Germany
from June 21 to June 23, 2005. For more information on the meeting
